What is Arthritis
Arthritis is an umbrella term that encompasses many different arthritic and rheumatic diseases. What they all have in common is that it is a condition that affects the joints and tissues around them. The symptoms include pain, stiffness, swelling, redness and reduced range of motion.
The causes of arthritis can be past joint injuries, obesity, infections, hereditary, as well as repetitive motion such as performing daily job duties.
Arthritis can impact a person’s life in a major way. People may lose their jobs because they can’t perform their work duties any longer. People may stop exercising or moving because it hurts, or it’s uncomfortable, or because they no longer have the necessary range of motion.
The result of these life altering limitations can lead to secondary impediments such as muscle weakness and loss of flexibility and lower fitness due to lack of exercise. Which itself may lead to obesity. People may also become isolated as they stop socializing. The constant pain and discomfort often disrupts their sleep and they lack the energy for the most mundane daily tasks. Depression and loneliness are often a result of such developments.

This type of arthritis is characterized by the breakdown of cartilage, which protect the ends of bones where they “join” with the joints, which themselves allow for bending and moving of limbs. The cartilage is a cushion between the bones. When the cartilage disintegrates, bones start rubbing against bone which causes pain and eventually leads to the deterioration of the bone.
Osteoarthritis is the most common form of arthritis and unfortunately it is degenerative (which means it gets worse with time). The causes are said to be past joint injuries, hereditary reasons or unusual joint development.
This is an auto-immune disease that affects the joints. The body attacks healthy cells causing inflammation of the joints and a deterioration of the tissues around the joints.
With time the inflammation affects the tendons and erodes the surface of the joints which reduces range of motion and can lead to deformity.
Underlying reasons are believed to be hereditary and environmental influences. Women seem to be affected 2-3 times more so than men.
Gout is an inflammation of the toe, ankle or knee, and is caused by high levels of uric acid in the blood, which crystalizes and then builds up in the joints and tissues around them. Gout comes in phases and generally is recurrent but subsides in between incidents.
Genetics play a role in a person’s propensity to gout. But diet (meat, seafood, alcohol, etc) and insufficient kidney functioning can increase the uric acid in the blood leading to a gout attack.
While there is no cure for gout, there are several home remedies and pain-management options people can do on their own.
Pain and Discomfort Self-Management
The objective is to control and manage the pain, reduce swelling, and cause continued damage to the joints and tissue. The options available include medication, such as analgesics, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as ibuprofen and naproxen in either pill form or as an ointment. Physical therapy, splints, arthritis are also treatment options, and it the worst case surgery where the joints are either fused or replaced.
These traditional methods of pain management, unfortunately, have side effects that negatively affect your health.

Lavandin Essential Oil:
Lavandin (Lavandula Hybrida Grosso) is a hybrid of Lavender but has much stronger medicinal properties than regular Lavender. It is analgesic which means it reduces pain and inflammation. It’s anti-spasmodic and muscle relaxing character relieves cramps, stiffness and pain in muscles and joints.

How to Use Kandala Arthritis Relief
Kandala Arthritis Relief Essential Oil Blend contains therapeutic-grade, pure essential oils that are too strong to be applied directly to the skin. It needs to be diluted with a carrier oil such as almond, avocado, argan, coconut, jojoba or olive oil.A 3-10% dilution is appropriate which equates to 3-5 drops drops for 1 teaspoon, or 5-10 drops for 1 tablespoon of carrier oil.

Add 4-6 drops into a diffuser and let the scents and the aroma surround you as you are working in your office, or doing chores. You can also dribble a few drops on a napkin or tissue or into an aromatherapy necklace and inhale the scents.
Add 4-10 drops to a hot bath. Make sure you mix in the oil well, since water and oil usually repel each other. You can mix the oil with some epsom salts prior to pouring it into the bath water. Swirl the water with your hand to ensure that the salt dissolves and the oil is mixed well with the water.
For direct application to skin, dilute with a carrier oil. Add 6-8 drops to 1 tablespoon of carrier oil or body lotion and massage the mixture into the affected, aching or stiff area several times a day and find relief from:

As with any other natural product, some people may develop a reaction when exposed to even the most natural and pure source of a plant, flower, or tree. Likewise, with essential oils, which are the most concentrated form of its source material.
Some of the naturally occurring chemicals in essential oils could cause a skin reaction such as aldehydes (citronella) and phenols (eugenol). Citrus plants also increase the photosensitivity of the skin, so when applied topically, extended sun exposure should be avoided. Some of the known potential skin irritants include bay, cinnamon, clove, citronella, cumin, lemongrass, oregano and thyme.
Elderly, babies and children as well as pregnant women should be careful when using essential oils. These groups are generally more sensitive to essential oils. And while the effects are not documented well enough to be of any proof, it’s not worthwhile taking any risks. Pregnant women should avoid clary sage, rosemary and rose.
